LivingStone House of Prayer
www.lhop.us

LHOP is a regularly accessible prayer room for Hampton Roads – a place for people to pray in an atmosphere where the Lord is being ministered to night and day.

We are a community of Christians who joyfully minister to the Lord through day and night prayer. We declare the praises of our Redeemer, pray for the restorative work of Christ to abound in our community, nation, and world, and stand as watchmen for the return of Jesus. We take up the mantle of prayer that is inherited from the former residents of LivingStone Monastery.

History | In 2004  Hope Community Church purchases the 28 Harpersville Road property from the Poor Clares, 50-year residents of the property. The Poor Clares are 2nd order Fransicans devoted to day and night prayer and ministry to the Lord. Hope takes charge of a historical place of day and night prayer and establishes LivingStone Monastery. Chris Carter, the worship pastor of Hope Community Church, is given a burning passion to join the Perpetual Prayer movement by establishing day and night Davidic prayer and worship for the Hampton Roads area. In 2007, the elders of Hope Community Church confirm that vision and LivingStone Monastery prepares to be the community that hosts LivingStone House of Prayer. In 2008, the House of Prayer launches, open 6 days of the week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. The LivingStone community are trained to fill the core schedule as keepers of the prayer room; musicians, singers, and prayer leaders begin filling more of the schedule with live sets; vision nights are held in homes across Hampton Roads as fund-raising makes headway, and series of training days are held to incorporate the volunteers from area churches who wish to serve in the House of Prayer.

Introduction to LHOP Nights | Each month there is a 3-hour introduction to LHOP night, a monthly call to the peninsula to gather together corporately in prayer and worship. These nights also serve as an introduction to the ministry of the House of Prayer for those who have never come. You are invited to join whenever you are able, or consider scheduling a personal retreat around one of these nights of prayer. Introduction to LHOP Nights are from 6-9 p.m. on the following dates:
  • Saturday, July 26
  • Saturday, August 30
  • Saturday, September 20
  • Saturday, October 25
  • Saturday, November 22

Will be held in Cornerstone - the second building on the campus, set back behind LivingStone.
